Kāda jēga bija saistīties ar Astanu, ja dopinga skandālu dēļ netiec uz Tour de France un droši vien arī uz dažām labām citām pro - sacensībām?
Protams, vietas labās komandās pakaļ nemet, bet tāda līmeņa braucēji ar nav sastopami uz katra stūra.

By now you most likely have heard the unfortunate news handed to us today by the Amaury Sport Organisation. Needless to say, I am very disappointed about the ASO´s decision, which was based entirely on the actions of the old Astana Team and without consideration of this new Team. From day one when I accepted to take over the management of Team Astana, I knew that this year´s Team would need to be revamped - From bringing in new riders, staff and management to establishing a sophisticated whereabouts and anti-doping program with Dr. Rasmus Daamsagaard. Though our efforts have been recognized by many, including the ASO, we continue to be punished for the actions of people who are no longer affiliated or associated in any capacity with my Team. While the Tour is a major goal on our calendar, I assure you it is not our only focus. While disappointed, our riders and staff continue to be motivated to not only win races and establish ourselves as an elite Team, bit also to professionally represent and promote you, our partners. At this point, we are currently putting into place an alternative competitive race schedule, which will contain a lot of intersting races where we are assured our participation, like the Tour of the Basque Country, Tour of Romandie, Tour of Catalunya, Dauphiné Libéré, Tour of Switzerland, Tour of Germany, Tour of Poland, Tour of Spain, and others. We will fight this unfair decision with our own weapons and show the cycling world that the Astana Cycling Team is one of the best teams in the world, independent of which races we compete in. I assure you that the entire Team and management will continue to work hard and attempt to change any negative perceptions that exist in the minds of the few, but powerful race organizers.
