Sometimes a lot of discusions are initiated about these chains. What do you, braliukai, think, XT or XTR chains are only the price despite its’ rustproof finish, or it really can roll more km than deore or LX? Did you ever do any tests or something for their durability?

I prefer to use HG73. Price is really good, and I dont see any difference in perfomance. Right now I guess I have 4 or 5 as spares. Bought 2 packs of 3.
I read several topics here (in Latvian), but no one can tell exactly, that XTR could live much longer then LX. I suppose, thouse, who buy the XTR chain, take more care and maintenance on the chain - lubricate it properly and clean as much as possible. The riders, who use LX, probably does not take it so seriously - so thay kill the chain (and chairings as well) faster.
I never tried XTR, but can say that I did not find difference in using the XT or HG73 chain - both served about the same time/km.
Somehow I switched to SRAM ( because of $, ofcourse).
I usualy use XT (HG-93) chain. Once I tried XTR. As I remember, there were no big diference with durability. The main thing, that I noticed was that XTR shifts smoother. I can also add that HG-53 works almost so long than HG-93, but it shifts not smooth.

I was riding with hg53, xt and still am riding with xtr. The main diference is that it switchs better. And for some 500km more durable, bet you have to remember that it is big difierence in which conditions you ride. I’ve been used xtr for 2600km and the same chain in mud and wet weather goes no longer 1500km. So you can choose. For me it is quiet nesessary that gears ar switching perfect! I can always find way how to buy xtr for not more than 15ls. i’m satisfied with it.
Have been using both XTR (HG-93) and XT (HG-73) chains and have observed that shifting in general is the same, but HG-73 serves longer under the same conditions and is cheaper than HG93. Would advise to use XT chain for pure money saving purposes.

As I noticed, Sram is more expensive than shimano… And their cassettes are less durable than Shimano.

I don’t understand. XTR (DA) is CN-7701, XT (ultegra) is CN-HG93, LX/SLX (105) is CN-HG73.

Look on the bike shops in winter, they give good discount. Like in Xsports, i’m sure there will be something close to 15ls. Or sometimes here can find some great sale to. :)
